You are hitch-hiking across the country to get to California for Spring Break. You've been dropped off on a small country road and there are no cars coming. You decide to hike through a narrow canyon because the freeway is visible, only three miles away.
As you pass through the canyon you stumble on the rough ground and kick loose a chunk of rock. The rock has a wide black section cutting through it, and you can see a silvery streak where your bootheel has scuffed it.
It's getting late. What do you do?
List the things you would consider in your decision.
List the questions you would ask yourself, and give the reasons
behind those questions.
